I won! I won! Hot damn, I won! (with apologies to "A Christmas Story")

The college announced the winners of the literary contest today. I won first place in the non-fiction category!! Got a certificate and a check for $50!! Might even get my picture in the local paper! OK, so it's not a leg lamp--I think I'll live. And the judges wrote LOTS of notes about my writing--more than any of the other winners (poetry and fiction). They said they hoped I continued writing, that I was really good!!

I'll be back when I get this smile wiped off my face...and like any other red-blooded American girl, I'm spending my $50 prize on a shiny red cast iron water pump to replace the green one that is too tall to work. I love country life!!
